After being diagnosed with Graves’ disease – an autoimmune disease that affects the body’s hormone system, Amanda quickly realised that she wanted to treat the cause of her illness rather than the symptoms. That meant cutting chemicals from her life. She found plenty of healthy alternatives and swaps but the one area she struggled to find solutions for was hair products in particular hair colour. Hairdressers at the time had very little knowledge about the ingredients that were in their products and finding reliable information was difficult.

This was the catalyst that led her to establish NATORG,and then eventually a distribution company, Eco Salon Supplies, to help other salons wanting to follow a similar path, for other people looking to live a chemical-free life, and move the beauty and haircare industry in the direction of more sustainable modes of operating.
